Recipes for Moms - Dessert Recipes
I love Fritters! Fritters are best freshly fried and patted dry with lots of paper towels, eaten hot. They are such a yummy treat. With apple season just around the corner, I thought I would share one of my favorites, Apple Fritters.
Apple Fritters
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/ 4 tsp cinnamon,
- other spices include dash of cloves, nutmeg and ginger
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg beaten well
- 2-3 tart apples
- Light flavored oil for deep fryer, like a corn, or vegetable. Not EVOO!
Directions for Apple Fritters
- Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
- Add milk and well beaten egg. Mix well.
- Peel and core apples. Then grate the slices and fold into batter.
- Drop by 1 tbsp of apple fritter batter mixture into hot oil and deep fry until brown.
- Turn and brown other side.
- Drain well and pat dry on paper towels and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
I often add a dash of cinnamon to my powdered sugar and sprinkle it with the tea ball.
