Written by Liz Edmiston
This is a very low calorie starter, ideal for serving at a dinner party or with drinks. Quick and easy to make and the addition of the curry powder and spices makes it full of flavour.

Ingredients

  • 1 block of Tofu, readily available in health food stores and most supermarkets.
  • small carton of natural yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon of tomato purée
  • paprika for garnish, plus a few caraway seeds

Method

  1. Beat the tofu until it is smooth, and then mix in the curry powder, yoghurt and tomato purée.
  2. Add a little liquid sweetner if you prefer a slightly sweetened dip
  3. Place the dip into individual ramekins , sprinkle lightly with paprika and add a few caraway seeds as garnish if required
  4. This dip is good served with popadums, taco chips, warmed slices of naan bread or slices of pitta for a filling appetiser.

The dip itself is only around 50 calories per serving, so be careful what you dip into it as the bulk of the calories will come from the accompanying extras!
