Cooking with Kids
Written by Andrea Tarolli
Kids love making their own ice cream.  In the summer when the weather is hot, get the kids to roll around an ice cream ball and make their own ice cream.  It can be very entertaining.  You can make it a game or just roll the ball to one another while watching television.  It is fun for even the youngest children in the family.  An ice cream ball lets you have fun making homemade ice cream without having to purchase an expensive ice cream maker.

Local Food

McKinnon.  It was an eye opening book that stressed the importance of eating local food and encouraged readers to eat food that is produced within 100 miles of his/her home.  Joining a CSA has been one of the best decisions our family has made.

Chipotle PasteThe wonderful mysterious, smoky, earthy, spicy, just plain addictive flavor that you just can't kind put your tongue on....You know that one I am talking about with really great Tex-Mex food? Its most likely the extra little bit of Chipotle Puree that's added here and there. Chipotles (chee-pote-lays) are red Jalapeno chilies that are slowly smoked over Mesquite wood.

jars of picklesI think these are the best homemade dill pickles. When chilled, they are crunchy and swimming in the yummy brine. This is a like a gift from heaven and fairly low salt content. YUMMY!!!

Let sit for 4-6 weeks before eating. Lets make 7 pints in wide mouth jars as an example of cold pack. Pretty soon, I will explain about refridgerator pickles.
