Tips and Advice - Quick and Easy Meals
Written by Angela Stringfellow
For a busy weeknight or a lazy weekend, you can't beat a recipe that literally takes ten minutes from prep to serving. Most of us already have the ingredients needed for the sauce, and anything you might not have is usually easy even for the most grocery store-challenged man.

This recipe makes approximately five to six sandwiches. For larger portions, the ingredients are easily doubled. This is also a great recipe for casual get-togethers. Mix together and heat the sauce, then add sauce and ham to a crockpot and cook on low for several hours for an easy, transportable covered dish. For a slightly different twist, if you have more time, you can try using pulled pork or chicken pieces - also delicious!

What You Need:

  • chickenbarbeque.jpgBuns or rolls of your choice
  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds tavern ham
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspooon Worchestershire sauce

Mix together ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, onion, water, chili powder and Worchestershire sauce in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Mix together until well blended and warm. Add ham. Simmer ten minutes.

These super-easy sandwiches are also great topped with cole slaw, whether you make your own or use the store-bought variety. As a side, try baked beans or cream-style corn.
