This rice pudding is super easy if you have a crock pot or just simply easy if your using a stovetop. I took a recipe from Jamie Oliver and altered it to be mom friendly. In other words, easy for those of us with little time on our hands.

It is assumed to be an easy and normal milestone to stop breast feeding or formula feeding and move to cow's milk. This is not always the case. What do you do if your baby is milk intolerant and how do you know?

Breastfeeding can be wonderful but very limiting. Bottle feeding is convenient but expensive. So it is no surprise that many a parent looks forward to the day when baby can move to cow's milk. So when can baby make that monumental move?

I had never tried a recipe for deviled eggs until I was an adult. My Mother in law introduced them to me at my baby shower for my first daughter. From that moment on I was hooked. I like the ease of the recipe, and ours kids really like them too.

One of the exciting aspects of eating more locally is becoming more attuned to the seasonal changes in what’s available, and the anticipation of what’s coming next. The early days of seasonal farmers markets often feature leftover winter items like apples and potatoes, and hardy greens like kale. Purple-tipped asparagus stalks are one of the first harbingers of spring, and the market springs to life soon after with the first summer berries, strawberries. Early plantings of zucchini or tomatoes further tease the taste buds with promises of summer bounty to come. Of course, seasonality can also pose a challenge as week after week of zucchini abundance trudges on.

I absolutely love chocolate. To me, real chocolate begins at 70% cocoa; I especially favor the mid-to-high 80 range. I like it dark, I like it beautifully-made, and I like to taste the intricate notes imbued by the cacao beans’ country of origin. And even then, I like to compare the differences between soils and shared crops within a given region. I like to eat chocolate the way other people drink wine. And I know I’m not alone—you’re here, curious and likely hungry. This recipe is adapted from Michel Montignac’s wonderful book, Slim Forever - The French Way.

This is great food, simple as is, and yet adapts to so many differnt foods and ways to prepare it. Catfish, hot dogs, hamburgers, and the list goes on. I love making a double batch using roasted corn, and a full size batch using roasted corn and adding 2 cups of freshly cooked black beans, with a dash of cumin, and a tablespoon of fresh cilantro. This is a great way of saving the summer harvest and preserving corn.Have fun, make a regular batch first, then after that gets eaten up in a week, make a double batch, and then branch out. Watch out, its fun and yummy.

As in most ordinary families, getting the right amounts of fruits and vegetables into our kids (let alone in me and my husband) is always a daunting task. Lately, I've been letting the farmers do some of the work. After all, they're the experts, right? Here are a few "farmish" things that have actually worked lately in this regard.

I have six kids. The youngest is three months old, so I spend a lot of time feeding her. It's not good news to me that the other children are hungry. It's absolutely necessary that the kids learn to cook!
