Outdoor Camping Style Dutch Ovens

Tips and Advice - Kitchen Equipment

Cast Iron Camping Dutch OvenOutdoor Dutch oven cooking is how I learned to cook at camp well over 25 years ago, and never even knew about indoor brightly colored enamel with a domed lip with a knob handle kind until a couple of years ago. I want to show you a few tips about cooking with old fashion cast iron Dutch ovens with legs and rimmed lip that are good for outdoor cooking. A Dutch oven is a thick-walled cast iron cooking pot with a tight-fitting lid. It is commonly referred to as a 'camp oven' in the Australian bush, cocotte in French, as a 'casserole dish' in British English, and is similar to both the Japanese tetsunabe and the Sac IPA, a traditional Balkan cast-iron oven.

Brew'N Go Lets You Make One Cup of Coffee for the Road

Tips and Advice - Kitchen Equipment

<a mce_thref= The Black and Decker Brew'N Go personal coffeemaker with a travel mug is the best one cup coffee maker I've found. In fact, I liked mine so much I bought another, so I now have one at work and one at home.

How often do you drink and drive? With coffee, that is. I take coffee or tea on the road almost every day. This personal coffee maker brews the coffee in less than two minutes. There is no need to pour the coffee into another mug because it brews right into the travel mug. I've had mine now for over two years, and even with daily use, they both are working like new.

Back to Basics: Cooking in a Clay Pot

Tips and Advice - Kitchen Equipment

Clay pot cooking goes back thousands of years. Archeological digs have found clay pot cookware. It makes sense, because clay is readily available, claybaker.jpgdurable, and it holds the heat well for cooking.

I had a clay pot for years that I used for baking chicken and meat dishes. The taste of the chicken and vegetables cooked in wine in a clay pot was unlike the flavor that I could get with any other cooking method. It’s hard to describe, other than it’s rustic.
