How to Get Cow's Milk into Fussy Babies - Recipes and Tips |

For babies who are not lactose intolerant or allergic but just don't like milk. Here are two milk based recipes and some milky ideas to try to get that important calcium, fat, vitamin A and vitamin D into your fussy angel's diet.
Milk By Stealth
Get milk into your baby with one of these stealthy ideas:

Cook savoury foods such as chicken supreme and vegetables in a creamy sauce using full fat milk

Try other dairy foods such as yoghurt, fromage frais, cheese, panacotta, smoothies and ice cream

Use full fat milk in custard
-
Make “cream of” soups using full fat milk
Milky Recipes
Remember to use full fat milk and don't forget to treat yourself to a portion.
Banana Smoothie - For the Banana Baby Fan
Ingredients:

1 banana
-
1 cup of full fat cow's milk
-
1 drop of vanilla essence
Instructions:
Ok. This one is easy. Throw the lot in a blender, whizz and drink. For a thinner drink add more milk. For the juice hating baby add extra banana or half the milk and feed to baby with a spoon.
Panacotta – For the Baby Jelly Fan
Warning; patience needed!
Ingredients:

2 ½ gelatine leaves
-
1 vanilla pod
-
225 ml double cream
-
225 ml full fat milk
-
35 g caster sugar
Instructions:

Place the gelatine leaves in a bowl of cold water to soak for 5 minutes. Cut the vanilla pod in half and scrape out the black seeds.

Put the vanilla pod and seeds, the cream, milk and sugar in a saucepan over a medium heat

Bring slowly to the boil. Remove from the heat and leave for 5 minutes

Bring the cream back to the boil then remove from the heat.

Drain the gelatine leaves and squeeze out any excess water. Add to the hot cream and stir well so that the gelatine dissolves evenly.

Strain and pour into 3 small greased moulds or ramekins. Cool then cover loosely with cling film/ Seran wrap and chill for at least 4 hours or until set.
Cream of Vegetable Soup
Ingredients:

3 cups of full fat milk
-
1 carrot
-
¼ small onion
-
1 small handful of frozen peas
-
1 small potato
Instructions:
- Peel and chop the carrot and potato into small cubes
- Bring a pan of water to the boil then add the carrot and potato
- After 20 minutes add the frozen peas and the finely diced ¼ of an onion then leave to boil for 10 more minutes
- Remove from the heat and drain the water from the vegetables
- Put the milk in a pan and add the now cooked vegetables.
- Bring the milk to a simmer and leave to simmer for 5 – 10 minutes
- Using a food processor or blender reduce the entire mix to a smooth soup, making sure that the pea skins have been fully blended
- Blend smoother or chunkier depending on the stage of weaning you are at

Add salt and pepper for the adults and leave without for baby
