My little kids, ages 4-8, really like playing on the computer. They can only go to nickjr.com. I was surprised to see hows many recipes are available for printing out over there.

My 6 year old daughter was on the computer the other day and she asked if she could print out a recipe from nick jr. I thought that was a sweet idea, and she picked one for a tasty snack. The only ingredient we had on hand was yogurt. I told her we would make it sometime.

I thought I’d shelve it until I forgot about it, but something about her initiative, her earnestness, tugged at me. I ended up having to go to the store to buy milk anyway, and I made it a point to pick up some bananas and mini-chocolate chips just for her.

She was so happy to get to make the simple recipe. I set out a little bowl with vanilla yogurt, another with mini-chips, another with grape nuts, and another with candy sprinkles. I cut a banana into four pieces and stuck a tooth pick in it and demonstrated how to dip it in yogurt and then coat it with one of the dry ingredients.

Then the 4, 6 and 8 year olds went to town making their snacks. This one should be easily replicated , where all I would need to do is pull the ingredients. http://www.nickjr.com/food/index.jhtml has lots of easy recipes for kids. I think we’ll be going there pretty often.
